It shouldn't hurt to be a woman

The "Stopping the Violence" counselling program provides counselling and support to women who have experienced violence or abuse.  Counselling is provided within a safe, supportive environment.  Coming from a feminist perspective, counselling models respectful relationships.  Services are delivered in a manner which respects each woman's individual rights, safety and human dignity, regardless of economic status, gender, age, race, cultural or ethnic origins, physical or mental ability or sexual orientation.

Have you or anyone you know experienced any or all of the following?

  Physical Abuse

Pushing, hitting, slapping, chocking or kicking?

Emotional Abuse

Ridiculed personal beliefs, race or religion, constant put-downs, insults directed at family or friends, or threats to hurt children or pets?

Psychological Abuse

A look meant to frighten, scare or bully; deprived of food or sleep; reckless driving with the person in the vehicle?

You are not alone!

Stopping the Violence counselling is intended for any woman who has experienced violence or abuse in her life whether current or past, and from any source whether from family members, partners, acquaintances or strangers.
