Welcome to our showcase. This is where we get to show off the diversity of musical talent in Powell River. Powell River is located on the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia, about 80 air miles north of Vancouver. It nestles against the shores of Georgia Strait, which separates the province's mainland from Vancouver Island and the Pacific Ocean. The rugged Coast Mountains provide a scenic backdrop to this community of 18,000. Amongst all this beauty thrives a wealth of musical abilities.

This list of Powell River Musicians has grown beyond my expectations. I now have listed more than 600 musicians. The research never ends. I have friends and other musicians to thank for the size of this list. I have had a local artist donate a logo for this internet site as well. I have heard countless stories from both musicians and non musicians about the "glory days" which, I have discovered, continue to this day.

Music fills our every day and to be entertained by a neighbor or friend is one of the things that makes where we live special. Something that has been enjoyed since the earliest days of Powell River.

Music of every genre, music made by a Powell Riverite, is what I've tried to capture with my web site. Listed are people who know no more than a few chords on a beat up acoustic guitar, or some one who sang in a choir in grade school. Professional, world class entertainers to the grass roots folk players, songwriters and soloists. Teachers and students, would be rock stars and musicians of all ages are represented here.

This listing has grown beyond my expectations. At present I doubt whether I have many musicians pre 1950. But my aim is to include every musician that has ever lived in Powell River at one time or another.

About 80+ musicians have offered a small biography and photo to this web site, and as time goes on I hope that more musicians will follow suit. And in time I will try to add some of the many stories I've been told. All styles and all abilities are showcased here.
