I am a Lyricist, but now we can include acoustic (mostly) guitar and keyboard. All are primarily in the "Country" vein and aimed back to the late 40's, fifties and sixties. I was influenced by the artists of that era ...in particular the late, great Hank Snow..as well as Marty Robbins, Hank Thompson, Johnny Horton, Webb Pierce, and some of the later greats like Charlie Pride, Merle Haggard,Sonny James, Jim Reeves and many more. I would love to hear from anyone of similar interests who'd like to try out a few tunes and "hopefully all end up on the same page" |

Robert Scott McMillanSongwriter, Drums and Guitar |
I started studying classical guitar at about 8 years of age, and joined the Powell River Clansman Pipe Band at around 12 or 13 years old if I'm not mistaken, and played the snare drum with them until I was 17. I played the drum set on and off for as long as I can remember. I used to go down to Seafair when bands used to play on the old cement pad in front of the caretaker's building between late 70's and early 80's. Pat Stewart let me play his drums for a couple of songs one time. Being so young then, I remember that all the 'older' guys were very cool about letting me sit in. My early influences were: Robert Johnson, Frank Zappa, Pink Floyd/Syd Barrett solo material, Brian Eno....... reason is either incredible musicianship, emotional expression, experimentation, or making me laugh.... especially in the case of Zappa, who had all these qualities and then some. He is the Marcel Duchamp of music. There is a good quote of Matt Groening's about FZ: " Zappa is my Elvis".....well, I agree. I am also a songwriter as I have written over 100 pieces of music and have 10 self produced projects under my belt.... and counting, and am currently looking for musicians to form a band
that I will be leading- playing guitar and singing. |
