Our goal is to provide economical seaworthy and high performance boat designs that are easy to construct for the first time builder. Although our craft can be constructed from the latest in high tech materials, assembly from more common inexpensive materials will also yield a quality craft.
Over the years we have successfully developed a unique building system which speeds up construction. The plans are easy to comprehend. In fact 98% of all Kismets were completed by first time builders. Every one of the Kismet designs (24 feet l.o.a. up to and including 47 feet l.o.a.) have been designed as if they were to be my personal craft. They incorporate most of the features that I consider to be essential for comfortable and safe shorthanded cruising.
1. Good visibility over cabin in every direction while seated
anywhere in the cockpit.
2. Easy access to deck and cabin top from cockpit.
3. Low silhouette for less windage.
4. Bridgedecks ( catamarans)or wingdecks ( trimarans) kept back
as far as possible, in order to keep bows lighter, and to eliminate
underwing damage from pounding
5. Powerful sailplan for good light air performance.
6. Central location for engine which means less cavitation.
There are many Kismet multihulls sailing worldwide. The K24C, K24T, K31T, K34T, K37T and K43T are all in the water sailing in various parts of the world. The K24C open bridgedeck and the K47C are presently under construction. The K34C has just been launched.
