Steam Train Mural, Chemainus (Dave & Linda Florence) |
Logging railroads appeared in Powell River around the turn of
the century where the yield was attractive and the terrain suitable. Their
heyday was between 1900 and 1930, after which logging roads and trucks overtook
rail for moving logs from the forest.
The museum displays fascinating
photos of Powell River's trains and railway era. The exhibit
items on the right reflect several of the main railroad logging shows of
the Powell River area.
Then,
for the complete tour, Willingdon Beach Trail is next.
