The Powell River Forestry Museum Society was formed in 1986. Its founding members were: Jack McCuish, Bill Finn, Andy Culos, Bill Tuba and Ken Gordon.

By preserving some of the past, the Powell River Forestry Museum Society pays tribute to the remarkable pioneers who worked in our forests.

In addition to updating displays and artifacts preserved in the Forestry Museum building at Willingdon Beach, Forestry Museum members voluntarily maintain the historic Willingdon Beach Trail and artifacts placed along the trail to help strollers remember the past.

The Museum building was originally a bathhouse built by the Powell River Company for the convenience of  beach users.
